ABOUT MY MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
I’ve been photographing jazz for more than a decade at gigs, on location and in the studio so I can shoot images that suit your style – relaxed or formal, serious or with some humour. While I’m not a musician I do understand the dynamics of music and I’m experienced in looking for those moments that encapsulate a performance or catch an interaction. My approach is informal and friendly and I often use a documentary style where I’m unobtrusive and the camera is silent so I can catch images that look unstaged and natural. My usual habitat is at soundchecks and rehearsals or in gigs and on location but I can also shoot in the studio. While I have a particular enthusiasm for jazz, I’m able to undertake any genre of music commission.
AFFORDABLE
I know musicians are often on tight budgets and I don’t have fixed prices – I would rather talk to you about what you want and then work out a solution that you can afford.
MUSICIANS I HAVE WORKED WITH
Musicians I have been commissioned by include Trish Clowes’ My Iris, Chris Batchelor and Pigfoot, Millicent Chapanda, Tom Riviere’s Family Band, Chris Young and Riley Stone Lonegan, Alicia Gardener Trejo, Ivo Neame, Faith Brakenbury and Tony Bianco, and John O’Gallagher. And in the Photography section of my site you will see I have also photographed a huge number of musicians at gigs. I’m contributing images to Steve Bradley’s book about Loose Tubes – these pictures will be a mixture of the best ones I have shot of Tubes members in gigs and newly shot portraits.
