PHOTOZINES

Back in the 1970s I mainly shot in black and white often due to cost. When I shot for clients and for Grapevine and Broadside magazines that was usually black and white as colour printing was expensive in addition to photographic developing and printing costs. But for personal work I did shoot colour transparencies. This gallery includes pictures around Birmingham taken at that time – they are mainly quite abstract – just shows that nearly 50 years ago I was already interested in shapes and texture. The one with John Reardon making an X shape against a building is from a sequence that he was doing – propbably as part of his photographic course at Dorrington Road. Next to it is one of me taken by John.
