Portrait, No Chaser

As I photographed more gigs I became aware that there was a real danger of repeating myself visually so I started to look for significant moments that often happened when musicians were not actually playing and I realised that I was starting to build a set of informal portraits which hopefully reveal something about each of the subjects. I decided to call the work Portrait, No Chaser – as anybody involved in jazz will know this is a sly reference to the Thelonious Monk Album and tune Straight, No Chaser. Catch the album on YouTube here.
