NEW BOOK!

This second set of Saltley images from the late 1970s is a follow-up to my CRB Saltley book from 2019 (reprinted in 2025) and like that book includes photographs I shot for the final reports of the Community Development Project (CDP) a Home Office project that looked at the causes of inner city deprivation.

Since 2019 my connections with the area have been renewed. For example the cover of the first book showed a mother with her three children on their doorstep and her grandson got in touch with me. A Facebook page now called Alum Rock and Rollers has brought together a community of both current and past residents of all backgrounds to share photographs and memories. 

This has resulted in new connections and friendships and is a rewarding and positive development which counters the negativity and racism which is so evident at the moment in the media, online and on the streets.
